Driver killed in Citrus Heights crash; police suspect alcohol involved

Roadway fatality

A collision killed a motorist Sunday night in Citrus Heights and police said alcohol may have factored in the deadly wreck.

Citrus Heights police officers were called to the two-vehicle collision westbound in the 7200 block of Madison Avenue between San Juan Avenue and Fleetwood Drive about 8:17 p.m.

Officers found the driver of one of the vehicles unresponsive and tried to revive the unidentified motorist, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the Citrus Heights Police Department said in a statement.

Sacramento County coroner’s officials were expected to release the driver’s name pending notification of family members.

Citrus Heights traffic investigators are determining the cause of the fatal collision. Although investigators preliminarily believe alcohol was a factor, their investigation continues and no arrests have been made, police officials said.

Citrus Heights police are asking witnesses to the collision to call the department at 916-727-5500.
