Folsom homes destroyed in two-alarm blaze that sent person to hospital
A two-alarm fire that destroyed a Folsom home before gutting a second, sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries Sunday night, said Folsom Fire Department officials.
Firefighters first arrived at the house in the 100 block of Rebecca Way at 8:11 p.m. The home was already fully involved and flames had begun to ignite another fire at the house next door, said fire officials.
The occupants of both homes escaped the flames and firefighters turned their attack to both houses. Firefighters from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, South Placer Fire District, Folsom Prison Fire Department and the El Dorado Hills Fire Department joined Folsom firefighters in battling the blaze.
Nearly 60 firefighters tackled the two-alarm blaze, Folsom Fire officials said.
One person was taken to the hospital with what Fire Department officials described as traumatic injuries. A second person was treated at the scene for minor burns. Firefighters suspected the blaze started on the outside of the home while its residents were inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
