Bicyclist killed in early morning Elk Grove collision, say police

Elk Grove police are investigating a traffic collision that killed a bicyclist early Friday, department officials said.

Officers responded about 2:33 a.m. Friday to the fatal collision on Calvine Road between Bader and Bradshaw roads. The driver of a Toyota traveling east on Calvine struck the bicyclist, described the by Elk Grove Police Department in a news release as a 39-year-old Sacramento man.

Sacramento County coroner’s officials will identify the bicyclist once next of kin are notified.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, said Elk Grove police. Investigators said they did not believe speed to be a factor in the crash.
