Family of 3 missing from south Sacramento found safe, deputies say

Missing person found

A family of three reported missing in Sacramento County since Friday evening has been located, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.

The family — a 23-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man, and their 1-month-old child — had last been seen near Power Inn and Florin roads in south Sacramento. The Sheriff’s Office had sought the public’s help in locating them, citing safety concerns.

“Detectives have confirmed that no crimes were committed, and no one is in any danger,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a social media update about 5:30 p.m.

No further information was released after they were located; authorities had initially expressed concern that the man may have been armed.

Authorities previously said the woman contacted a relative in Washington state before disappearing, reporting that she feared for her safety. Before the relative could arrive, deputies said the man took the woman’s phone and sent a message instructing the relative “not to interfere.”

When the relative arrived the next day, the family and their vehicles were gone. Investigators said the family might have been traveling in a white 2019 Toyota Camry with black decals.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for its assistance.
