Discount outdoor retailer to open third store in Sacramento region. When & where
Looking for discount camping, hiking and cycling gear? Sierra is opening its third outdoor store in the Sacramento region.
Part of the TJ Maxx Family of Brands, the retail chain specializes in “high-quality active and outdoor products at unexpectedly low prices,” Sierra said in a Monday, Oct. 20, news release.
Sierra will celebrate the grand opening of its new Roseville store over the weekend.
The retailer recently opened locations in Davis and South Lake Tahoe.
“We are thrilled to continue expanding our presence across Northern California,” Amanda Johnson, Sierra’s assistant vice president and marketing director, said in the release. “Sierra strives to make active lifestyles simple and accessible for everyone, without compromising on value or performance.”

What is discount outdoor retailer Sierra?
Sierra Trading Post shortened its name to Sierra in 2018 after joining the TJX Cos. Inc., which also owns HomeSense, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Winners.
“Sierra is the go-to destination for discovering incredible value on top active and outdoor gear, footwear and apparel for the whole family,” the retailer said in the release.
Sierra has more than 115 locations across the United States, TJX executive officials said on an earnings call in February, with plans to open an additional 20 stores in 2025.
Where is new outdoor store in Sacramento area?
Sierra is at 8670 Sierra College Blvd. in Roseville.
The 20,000-square-foot store will replace PetSmart in the Renaissance Creek shopping center at the southwest corner of Douglas and Sierra College boulevards.
When will Roseville location open?
Sierra will hold a grand opening celebration at its new Roseville store at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.
In addition to music from a local DJ, the event will feature Sierra-branded giveaways, and a “hidden tag activity” giving shoppers the chance to win a Sierra gift card, the retailer said.
What deals can I get on camping, hiking and hunting gear?
Sierra carries outdoor apparel such as athletic shoes, swimwear and active wear for men and women, as well as sports equipment, hunting tools and camping furniture.
The chain sells products for 20% to 60% less than “department and specialty store prices,” Sierra said in the release, “empowering communities to have an active lifestyle at accessible prices.”
Is Sierra hiring?
As of Tuesday, Oct. 21, Sierra was hiring new full- and part-time store associates for its Roseville store, the release said.

Following the grand opening, Sierra’s Roseville location will be open 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
