Video: Investigators search for cause of fire at closed Rancho Cordova card room
A two-alarm fire damaged a vacant Rancho Cordova card room early Monday, prompting an arson investigation, authorities said.
The fire was reported just after 2:30 a.m. on the 11000 block of Folsom Boulevard at the former home of Epoch Casino, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Capt. Mark Nunez. Crews arrived to find flames that had started outside and spread into the building’s attic, triggering a second alarm, he said.
Firefighters searched the structure, which was boarded up, and confirmed no one was inside, and no injuries were reported. Folsom Boulevard remained closed Monday morning as crews checked for hot spots, Nunez said.
The two-story building was previously home to Epoch Casino, a 13-table card room which closed in September 2024 after operating for about a year. The card room had occupied the former site of Magnolia House Casino.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
