Crews recover man’s body from Sacramento Delta slough near Walnut Grove

Drowning incident depicts emergency personnel in boats on water

A body recovered Thursday morning from waters near Steamboat Slough in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta does not appear to be the result of foul play, Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said. Walnut Grove fire crews responded about 10:45 a.m. to a report of a body in the water near the 12500 block of Grand Island Road, about a half-mile from the Sacramento River. U.S. Coast Guard personnel and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office marine units assisted with the recovery. The body appeared to be that of a man, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No additional details were released pending identification and notification of next of kin.
