A young boy remained hospitalized Tuesday after he was seriously injured in a fire at his family’s North Natomas home, Sacramento Fire Department officials said.

The fire was reported around 12:15 a.m. at a single-story residence in the 5400 block of Waterville Way, fire officials said. Firefighters found the boy inside the Natomas Crossing home with serious injuries and transported him to a hospital.

The child, described only as younger than 10 years old, showed signs of improvement while receiving treatment en route to the hospital, said Sacramento Fire Capt. Justin Sylvia.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation Tuesday.
