A 25-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Elk Grove Saturday night, police said.

The woman, a pedestrian, was crossing Bruceville Road at about 8 p.m. when she was struck by a dark-colored SUV whose driver fled the scene, the Elk Grove Police Department said in a news release.

Investigators are actively looking for the vehicle, which was traveling southbound on Bruceville Road between Di Lusso Drive and Laguna Boulevard.

The stretch of road was closed for about three hours on Saturday as investigators combed the scene, but reopened late in the evening, police said.
