Paroled man found dead in Arcade Creek after ankle monitor stopped transmitting

Police tape at crime scene

The body of a man on parole was recovered Thursday from Arcade Creek in North Sacramento after his electronic monitoring device led authorities to the location, officials said.

Sacramento Fire Department crews pulled the man, believed to be in his 50s, from the water around 1:30 p.m. near Marysville Boulevard in the Hagginwood neighborhood, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a department spokesman.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Daniel Ezra Cannon, 50, of Sacramento. His cause of death remained “undetermined,” according to the Coroner’s Office website.

Parole officers began searching for the man after his monitoring device stopped working about eight hours earlier, Sylvia said.
