Roseville’s Olympus Junior High School was closed Wednesday after a fire damaged two classrooms Tuesday evening, Roseville Fire Department officials said. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were dispatched just after 5 p.m. to the campus at 2625 La Croix Drive, just two blocks from Bayside Church on Sierra College Boulevard, after multiple calls reported smoke coming from a building, the Roseville Fire Department said.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke billowing from vents in one wing of the school and made entry into the building, where they found one classroom with heavy smoke and fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and kept the fire from spreading to surrounding classrooms, officials said. A second classroom, however, was also damaged.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday.

Officials from the school and the Eureka Union School District were working on restoration efforts, according to firefighters. Families were notified by the school principal that the campus would be closed Wednesday.
