A Modesto resident hit a $552,460 progressive jackpot on a Sky River Casino slot machine, casino officials said.

The visitor won the jackpot Jan. 17 on the Dollar Storm Mega Grand Link game, which features a pirate theme.

The gambler bet $40 on the spin.

“Pirate’s luck was with a fortunate guest this past weekend and the excitement rippled through the casino when it hit,” said Michael J. Facenda, president of Sky River Casino. “Massive jackpots like this have the power to change lives, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this latest big win.”

The casino, which opened in 2022, spans 100,000 square feet with more than 2,100 slot machines and more than 80 table games. It has 18 restaurants and bars.

Owned by the Wilton Rancheria in partnership with Boyd Gaming Corporation, the casino is located at 1 Sky River Parkway in Elk Grove, about a 15 miles southeast of downtown Sacramento.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
