Body of man found in Lake Natoma near popular Folsom recreation area
A man’s body was found Wednesday in the waters of Lake Natoma near Black Miners Bar in Folsom, authorities said.
State Parks officials said a group of kayakers spotted the body in the lake and reported it to rangers around 11 a.m. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the scene to take custody of the body and determine the cause of death.
Folsom Fire Department dispatch logs showed firefighters were called at 10:57 a.m. to the north shore of Lake Natoma near Greenback Lane and Folsom Boulevard.
The man’s identity had not been released, and authorities did not immediately provide details about how long the body may have been in the water. No additional information was available Tuesday afternoon.
The discovery marked the second body recovered from Lake Natoma in less than a month.
On Dec. 29, authorities recovered the body of a man a day after his personal belongings were found along the bike trail at Black Miners Bar. Family members identified the man on social media as Chris Cary Jr., 38, of Roseville, who had been reported missing after riding home on the trails late at night.
The Coroner’s Office is expected to identify the body found Tuesday once his identity is known.
