Pedestrian hit, killed by train in East Sacramento, Union Pacific says

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Sacramento on Saturday, according to Union Pacific Railroad.

Around 5 p.m., a person was trespassing on the railroad tracks near McKinley and C St. when they were struck by a train and died, said Mike Jaixen, a spokesperson for Union Pacific. The incident did not occur at a railroad crossing.

The crew of the train was not injured. They witnessed the incident and are being offered support, Jaixen said.

The person who died has not yet been identified.
