Grass Valley police were investigating after a man was found dead Monday afternoon in a wooded area between Sutton Way and Brunswick Road.

The discovery came after a series of winter storms moved through Northern California, bringing heavy rain across the capital region, including Nevada County.

Just before 1 p.m., a person walking through the area discovered an adult male who appeared to need medical attention, according to the Grass Valley Police Department.

Officers responded and confirmed the man was deceased.

Police said the time and manner of death of the man’s death were not immediately known. His identity will be released after next of kin have been notified, officers said.

The Grass Valley death followed a similar discovery Saturday in Amador County, where police in Jackson said a body was discovered in a wooded area along Jackson Creek behind businesses on Highway 88.
