Hello Temaki, a sushi restaurant in Elk Grove, is closing it doors in a “bittersweet” farewell, the business owner wrote on social media Tuesday.

The business moved its closure date. On Tuesday, Hello Temaki said its last day would be Saturday. But due to “overwhelming support,” Hello Temaki is staying open an extra week, the business owners wrote on social media.

“We hear you and we want everyone to be able to come say goodbye, so we are extending our last day to be March 7,” Hello Temaki’s social media post read. “From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you guys for all the love. It truly means the world to us”

Located on 9261 Laguna Spring Drive, Hello Temaki is shutting its doors due to high rent, the rising cost of ingredients and labor and business overhead, owner Feng Liang told the Sacramento Business Journal. The sushi restaurant opened in March 2024 and is known for its premium sushi hand rolls, according to its Yelp page.

The business remained optimistic in its closure messages online, writing that it was “excited to see what’s in store for (the business) next.”

“We are so grateful to have been able to serve such a wonderful community and we owe many thanks to those who have supported us,” Hello Temaki wrote in it’s a farewell statement on social media.

Liang told the Sacramento Business Journal the building owners are looking for a new business to take over with a deal in the works. In the meantime, Liang announced she will start a cafe called Saddle Coffee and Treats. She said the cafe will tentatively open in July at 8900 Grant Line Road.

Liang also owns Umai Bar & Grill on 8973 Grant Line Road in Elk Grove, which will remain open. Umai Bar & Grill serves sushi, ramen and udon, its Yelp page states.

Hello Temaki encouraged Elk Grove residents to come by and “celebrate all the amazing memories (the business) made and bonds (they’ve) created over yummy food.”

The sushi restaurant’s weekend hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to its website. It is open from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
