Bicyclist killed in collision on Del Paso Road in Sacramento, police say

Roadway fatality

A man biking in North Natomas was killed Friday evening after a collision with a vehicle, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. in the 2900 block of Del Paso Road near Sacramento’s Creekside neighborhood, police spokesperson Officer Allison Smith said. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene, Smith said, and DUI does not appear to be a factor in the collision. Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Smith said.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after family members have been notified.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Police Department’s dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
