The El Dorado Hills Fire Department and Folsom Police Department have been busy saving ducklings.

Six ducklings were rescued by a Folsom animal control officer earlier this month after they fell down a storm drain, the Folsom Police Department shared Friday.

Folsom police said the ducklings’ mother watched as first responders brought out her babies one by one.

“Calls like these might not be your typical ‘rescue mission,’ but they matter just the same,” the Folsom Police Department wrote in a statement.

Similarly, 15 ducklings were rescued last Monday by the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, according to the department’s Facebook post. The ducklings were also found in a storm drain.

In a 2025 study, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife reported that the breeding duck population increased 27% compared to the year before.
