Man fatally hit by train at downtown Davis Amtrak station, police say

A 24-year-old man was hit and killed by a train Friday evening, according to the Davis Police Department.

Davis police spokesperson Lt. John Evans said the man died after being hit by a train shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the downtown Amtrak station, 840 Second St.

The Yolo County Coroner’s Office and Amtrak police are also working on the investigation. Authorities are not identifying the victim at this time. Evans did not say what caused the incident.

Friday’s fatal incident occurred the night before UC Davis’ 112th Picnic Day.
