Scooter rider dies after crash with vehicle in Citrus Heights, police say

A crash involving a vehicle and motorized scooter Saturday morning in Citrus Heights left the scooter rider dead, police said.

The Citrus Heights Police Department reported the vehicle and scooter made contact shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Sylvan Road near Greenback Lane. The person riding the scooter was found injured in the roadway, police said in a news release.

Responding officers attempted life-saving efforts, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The Citrus Heights Police Department did not identify the person who died.

The vehicle’s driver is cooperating with police, according to a release. Southbound lanes of Sylvan Road between Stock Ranch Road and Greenback Lane were to remain closed until the initial investigation is complete, according to Citrus Heights police.

Citrus Heights police asked those with information to call the Police Department at 916-727-5500.

“The Citrus Heights Police Department encourages all drivers to stay attentive, watch their speeds, and be a courteous driver,” the Police Department wrote in a statement.
