Search and rescue operation underway for missing man near Lake Tahoe

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Service, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and 120 search-and-rescue volunteers launched a search and rescue operation for a 60-year-old hiker near Fallen Leaf Lake in El Dorado County.

A search and rescue operation launched Saturday near Fallen Lead Lake in El Dorado County, where a hiker went missing on Memorial Day.

The operation involved the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Service, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and more than 120 search-and-rescue volunteers from 20 counties, according to an OES Facebook post.

Search and rescue teams are looking for Jason Coughran, 60, who was believed to be near Angora Peak around 11 a.m. Monday, according to previous Sacramento Bee reporting.

The Sheriff’s Office states he could be wearing khaki shorts and a long-sleeve blue and white shirt. He was described as 6-foot-2 and 150 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes and has an athletic build.
