Winters woman sprays insecticide in man’s eyes in domestic violence assault

Police tape at crime scene

A woman in Winters physically assaulted and sprayed insecticide in a man’s eyes on Sunday under the Railroad Avenue bridge, according to the Winter’s Police Department. Officers characterized the attack as a domestic violence incident.

Police officers were dispatched to the bridge at around 3:45 p.m., where a passerby informed them that they believed a man had broken a woman’s nose. Afterward, while officers were walking down a trail in the creek, a pitbull off its leash aggressively charged at them, leading an officer to fire their weapon and kill the dog.

Officers determined that the dog belonged to the man and woman involved in the original disturbance and arrested the woman on charges of felony domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon. The deceased dog was left in possession of the man and Animal Control was contacted, according to the police department.

The woman is now being held at Yolo County Jail.
