DUI suspect arrested after fatal head-on car crash in Auburn

Police tape at crime scene

A passenger was killed and others left injured in a head-on collision involving two vehicles Saturday on Foresthill Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Mike Hamilton, a spokesperson for the agency’s Auburn office, said the crash involved a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Tacoma.

Three people were traveling in the Corolla at the time of the collision. The driver was airlifted to a local hospital with what responders believed to be major injuries, while a passenger died at the scene, Hamilton said.

A 2-year-old child who was also in the Corolla was not injured, according to officials.

The driver of the Tacoma was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. After receiving medical treatment, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Hamilton said.
