Arrest made in deadly Ethan Way stabbing in Arden Arcade, Sacramento deputies say

Homicide investigation

Deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with Saturday’s stabbing in Arden Arcade, officials said.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday reporting a stabbing in the 1900 block of Ethan Way.

Deputies found a 51-year-old man inside a residence suffering from a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Sgt. Edward Igoe, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said the suspect fled before deputies arrived.

“A perimeter was quickly established, and a Sacramento Sheriff’s K-9 team began tracking the suspect,” Igoe said. “Jaleisa Ellison, 37, was located inside the perimeter and detained without incident.”

Igoe said crime scene investigators and homicide detectives responded and processed the scene. Through their investigation, Ellison was identified as the suspect.

Ellison was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail. She was expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity in accordance with its policy after next-of-kin notifications have been made.
