Gasoline prices in the Sacramento area and throughout California have been falling since midsummer and now are closing down on the $3-a-gallon threshold.
The prolonged decline has been tied to low crude oil prices, ample gas supplies and little disruption of refinery production. On Tuesday, AAA will release its monthly Gas Price Survey, breaking down average at-the-pump costs at jurisdictions throughout the state.
