Sacramento police announced the arrest of a 55-year-old man in the stabbing death of a woman Tuesday morning in Meadowview area.
Cresencio Camasura was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers responded to a residence in the 7300 block of 22nd Street about 7:14 a.m. regarding a report of an assault. The person who called 911, later identified as Camasura, initially reported the incident to the police dispatch center and indicated he had left the scene, according to a Police Department news release.
When officers arrived, they found the home locked and no one answered the door. Soon afterward, Camasura returned and was detained by police.

Officers forced open the front door and found a woman inside with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said detectives were called to assist in the investigation and it was soon discovered that Camasura was related to the victim through marriage. Police said this is believed to be an isolated incident.
After being questioned at police headquarters, Camasura was booked into Sacramento County Jail.
The victim’s name has not been released.
