Suspect jailed after allegedly trying to sexually assault teenage girl in Antelope

Eric Torres was booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of kidnapping and assault with the intent to commit rape, a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department news release states.

The assault occurred Sunday as the girl, in her mid-teens, was walking on North Loop Boulevard near Walerga Road. She was approached by a man who dragged her into nearby brush and attempted to sexually assault her, sheriff’s officials said.

Torres is being held in lieu of $1 million bail and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday.
