A 21-year-old man has pleaded no contest to kidnapping a 16-year-old girl in the Antelope area last year with intent to rape her.
Eric Torres entered the plea Thursday in Sacramento Superior Court in the March 2015 assault.
The attack occurred on North Loop Boulevard near Walerga Road as the victim was walking to a student government meeting. Torres followed her and began to fondle her, telling her he wanted to be her boyfriend, according to a Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office news release. The girl asked him to stop, but Torres then got in front of her and asked her if she wanted to get raped, authorities said.
When the girl repeatedly screamed “No,” Torres dragged her between a tall bush and a cinder block wall. The girl was able to fight off Torres and run to safety, where passing motorists helped her contact law enforcement officers.
