‘It takes a toll on the community’
Terryon Bean died Thursday, 20 days after he was shot inside a barbershop in a Florin Road shopping center.
Bean, 27, was inside Upgrade Cuts & Styles at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 13 when another man walked in and shot him, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
His injuries were initially considered serious but not life-threatening. But Bean’s name was on the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office log Friday morning, having died the previous day in connection with the incident near the intersection of South Land Park Drive and Florin Road.
Bean had spent most of his adult life as a security guard or trucker for companies in Sacramento and Elk Grove, driving most recently for Hercules Forwarding Inc., according to his LinkedIn profile.
His MaxPreps profile shows he played running back and defensive end at Hiram W. Johnson High School before graduating in 2009. A GoFundMe page established to support his family said he left behind three daughters.
Police initially reported at least two people were suspected to be involved in the shooting.
Police said the department’s homicide unit has now taken over the investigation.
