Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two men and their vehicle in connection with a Saturday homicide in Rancho Cordova.

Detectives said 19-year-old Albert Alexander of Sacramento was shot about 2:40 p.m. near a gated apartment complex in the 9800 block of Lincoln Village Way. He later died at a hospital.

The Sheriff’s Department has released photos of a vehicle captured on a surveillance camera moments before the shooting. While noting that the photos are unclear and the license plate unreadable, detectives are hoping that someone will come forward with information on the vehicle and its occupants.

The vehicle is a light gray or silver 2015 Hyundai Sonata sedan. It has a shark-fin antenna attached in the center of the rear window near the roofline.

Investigators said they did not know the relationship between the victim and the men in the car, who witnesses said were men armed with a handgun. Witnesses said the car may have been in the area before the shooting.

Detectives ask anyone who has information on the identity of the gunmen or knowledge of the movements of the car to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357.
