Victim identified in Sunday homicide in south Sacramento

A man found dead in his south Sacramento home Sunday after has been identified by the coroner’s office as authorities investigate an apparent homicide.

Damien Michael, 49, was reportedly the victim of a “violent assault” in his home on Peevey Court, according to the coroner’s office and a news release by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Michael was found dead inside his home by a family member about 2 p.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff’s news release.

No motive or suspect information have been released by authorities as the homicide case remains under investigation.
