Three minors among four arrested in connection with high-speed robberies in Elk Grove
Four people – three of them minors – were arrested this week in connection with two related robberies in Elk Grove.
Serena Abell, 18, and a boy were arrested Monday and a boy and a girl were arrested Tuesday after three robberies were committed in a 40-minute timespan Thursday, according to a news release issued by the Elk Grove Police Department.
The first robbery was unrelated, but the other two, which occurred sometime between 2:10 p.m. and 2:20 p.m., are believed to have involved the same suspects, according to the release.
The first of the two occurred on the 8600 block of Elk Grove Boulevard, where a boy was approached in front of a business by a suspect, according to the release.
After refusing to hand over property, the robber and the victim got into a fight and a second suspect joined in, but they were unable to complete the robbery, according to the release.
The suspects fled in a vehicle that was waiting nearby and officers responded to another robbery on the 9700 block of Tralee Way shorty afterward, according to the release.
There, another boy was approached by the same two suspects and was thrown to the ground after trying to run away, according to the release.
The victim was assaulted and robbed after a gun was pulled on him. The suspects again fled to a vehicle, which was believed to have two females inside, according to the release.
Around 10 p.m. Monday, officers spotted the suspect vehicle on southbound Elk Grove Florin Road, where they stopped and searched it. During the search, officers found an unloaded gun under the driver’s seat and the two occupants – Abell and a 16-year-old boy – were determined to be suspects in the robberies, according to the release.
Abell was booked into the Sacramento County jail on suspicion of robbery while the boy was taken to juvenile hall on suspicion of robbery and weapons offenses, according to the release.
Investigators arrested the other two minors Tuesday as they were leaving a home in Sacramento, according to the release. They were both taken to juvenile hall on suspicion of robbery.
Investigators managed to recover some stolen property and believe all suspects in the two related robberies were taken into custody, according to the release.
