Suspect arrested after man dies from apparent assault in south Sacramento, police say

Detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after another man was killed in an apparent assault Sunday night outside a hotel in south Sacramento, police said.

Officers responded to the 7700 block of La Mancha Way, near Mack Road, following reports of a felony assault around 8:10 p.m., said Officer Karl Chan, Sacramento Police Department spokesman.

Arriving officers found a man in the parking lot of a hotel who “looked like he had sustained some type of blunt force trauma from an object,” Chan said.

The victim had sustained life-threatening injuries and died of those injuries at the scene, Chan said.

In the course of investigating, detectives identified the suspect as Nader Alomari, 38. He was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County jail on a charge of murder, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release Monday afternoon.

The victim will be identified by the coroner’s office pending notification of family.
