Sheriff’s detectives investigating after man found dead of trauma on Carmichael sidewalk

Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found with “apparent trauma” Wednesday in Carmichael.

The dead man was located in the 5700 block of Marconi Avenue, and the public is asked to avoid the area as detectives investigate, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet about 9 a.m.

The sheriff’s dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a man on the sidewalk who appeared dead, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said in a brief press conference at the scene, streamed live via Facebook video at about 10 a.m.

Investigators have identified a potential crime scene in the parking lot of a nearby Jack in the Box restaurant, where some physical evidence was found, Deterding said.

“How the evidence came into play is unknown at this time,” Deterding said, adding that there was “nothing at all” in terms of suspect information as of Wednesday morning.

The victim is a man in his 30s, Deterding said, who suffered “apparent trauma to the upper body.” His identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

Sheriff’s personnel will likely be in the area for several hours, Deterding said.
