Man dead, another in custody after Arden Arcade stabbing, Sacramento sheriff says

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies detained a man early Wednesday following a stabbing that left one man dead in the Arden Arcade area, authorities said.

Deputies responded at about 1:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Whitney Avenue following reports that a man had been stabbed, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Officers located a man suffering from at least one stab wound, who was then pronounced dead at the scene, the news release said.

Homicide detectives remained at the scene investigating early Wednesday morning and one man at the scene was detained. His identity has not been released.

“The stabbing appears to be related to a verbal altercation,” the news release said, and the Sheriff’s Office in a tweet said the stabbing may have followed a “domestic disturbance.”

Sheriff’s officials do not believe there were any other involved parties, the news release said. The identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office pending notification of the victim’s family.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
