Man faces 325 years in prison for child sex assault on family members in Sacramento

A man was convicted this week in Sacramento Superior Court of 14 counts of sexual assault involving multiple family members ages 6 through 14, according to the district attorney.

A jury on Tuesday found Jose Placencia Iniguez, 42, guilty of eight counts of lewd acts on a child under the age of 14; five counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 using force, duress, menace or fear; and another count of a lewd act on a child 14 or 15 years of age, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday in a news release.

A jury also confirmed the allegation that Iniguez’s crimes involved more than one victim, after investigators determined five minor family members had accused Iniguez of sexually assaulting them, according to the DA news release. In 2015, two victims between the ages of 6 and 14 disclosed the assault to family, and in 2017 three additional relatives came forward to disclose that he had sexually assaulted them between the ages of 7 and 12. All of the victims were girls.

Iniguez was arrested following an investigation by the Sacramento Police Department. He had fled to Mexico and was extradited to the United States and booked into the Sacramento County jail this March.

Iniguez faces a maximum sentence of 325 years to life in prison at his Jan. 24 sentencing.
