Suspect at large after attack, attempted sexual assault at knifepoint in West Sacramento
West Sacramento police are seeking a man accused in an attack and attempted sexual assault last weekend causing “significant injuries” to a victim, authorities said.
At about 10:40 a.m. Sunday, a man entered the Rivermark apartment building on Bridge Street and attacked a female victim in the complex’s laundry room, according to a news release by the West Sacramento Police Department.
“The suspect held a large folding knife to the victim’s neck and he told her to be quiet and let him do what he wanted,” the news release said.
The victim resisted the suspect’s attempted sexual assault, and the suspect then “knocked her to the ground, kicked her and stomped on her, causing significant injuries,” authorities said.
Police shared surveillance photos of the suspect’s vehicle, appearing to be a silver or gray early 2000s model Mercury Sable, and said it was driven over the I Street Bridge just before and just after the attack.
The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, with a goatee and glasses. He is seen in a photo wearing a black hoodie with a red shirt underneath, a black beanie, white pants and black shoes.
Anyone with information about the incident or the at-large suspect is urged to contact West Sacramento Police Detective Nick Barreiro at 916-617-4947.
