Police release video from brazen Elk Grove bank robbery; suspect still at large

Police have released surveillance video from a Monday morning bank robbery that took place in Elk Grove in broad daylight as they continue their investigation.

Police are looking for a gray or silver Nissan Sentra, seen in video released Thursday by the Elk Grove Police Department as having a child car seat in the back and no rear license plate.

The robbery occurred at the El Dorado Savings Bank branch at 8973 Grant Line Road around 10:45 a.m. Monday, the Elk Grove Police Department said in an earlier news release.

A male suspect can be seen on surveillance video from the exterior of the bank and in photos from the interior wearing a white hardhat, a black scarf over his face and a high-visibility construction vest. The suspect is described as a possibly white male, about 5-foot-9, with a thin build.

Video shows the robber backing into a parking space directly in front of the bank, entering it while leaving the driver’s door open, then fleeing in the vehicle minutes later.

Police say the man received an unknown amount of cash from the teller before fleeing the bank. No one was hurt in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP (4357).

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Tips can also be sent via text message to CRIMES (274637) on a cell phone, followed by Tip732.
