Live Oak man arrested at casino after alleged carjacking, kidnapping incident in Placer County

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested Monday night, accused of stealing a vehicle with young children inside, then ditching it near Thunder Valley Casino Resort in unincorporated Lincoln before fleeing.

Lincoln police found the vehicle abandoned and with the two children, ages 1 and 5, inside and unharmed about an eighth of a mile from where it was stolen, the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday in a news release. The vehicle was taken from Knutz Auto and Truck on Industrial Avenue shortly before 6 p.m., the news release said.

The Sheriff’s Office initially said the suspect had fled on foot in the area just south of Thunder Valley.

The suspect was “ultimately found on Thunder Valley Casino grounds” and arrested, the updated statement said.

In an previous Facebook update, sheriff’s officials said a lone suspect was detained around 9 p.m. Monday and that no other suspects were outstanding.

Charles Anthony Hall, 33, of Live Oak, was booked into the South Placer jail just before midnight on charges including kidnapping and carjacking after being arrested by deputies, according to jail booking logs.

Inmate records also show Hall had been released from the same jail earlier that day, after being arrested late last week by the Lincoln Police Department on suspicion of felony forging or altering of vehicle registration, in addition to several misdemeanor charges and misdemeanor warrants from the Yuba City Police Department. Hall was out of jail “through a pre-trial court release,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

Hall’s bail is set at $480,000.
