Suspect vehicle sought in Sacramento hit-and-run that killed pedestrian, 53, police say
The Sacramento Police Department is seeking the driver in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian Friday evening in south Hagginwood.
Officers responded to Rio Linda Boulevard and Acacia Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. following reports of a vehicle-vs.-pedestrian collision, the Police Department said in a news release. Arriving officers found a man in the roadway with major injuries and learned that a suspect vehicle described as a dark, older-model sedan fled the scene.
Police attempted life-saving measures and the victim was transported by Sacramento Fire Department personnel to a hospital, where he died of his injuries Saturday, according to the news release and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The sedan was last seen heading south on Rio Linda Boulevard, police said.
The victim has been identified by the coroner as 53-year-old Anthony Moreno of Sacramento.
