Suspected DUI driver crashes into Northgate home. None hurt, Sacramento police say
A suspected DUI driver crashed his car into a home in Sacramento’s Northgate neighborhood Thursday evening, but nobody was hurt, authorities said.
Sacramento Police officers and fire personnel responded around 8:10 p.m. to the 3100 block of Normington Drive, where a dark-colored SUV had crashed through a gate and into the corner of an occupied residence, according to photos tweeted by the Sacramento Fire Department.
The driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was arrested on DUI-related charges, according to the Sacramento Police Department’s daily activity log. No one was inured, police and fire officials said.
The Fire Department in social media posts said the home sustained minor structural damage. The vehicle, which had its airbags deploy, appeared to push a white metal gate into one of the home’s windows while the front end damaged the building’s corner, photos show.
The SUV came to rest partially atop a raised brick terrace in the front yard. A small garden gnome, seen smiling and holding a “Welcome” sign beneath the window, escaped demise by about a foot.
