CHP: Suicide likely after man found hanging from tree near I-80 and Roseville

A spokesman for the CHP Valley Division on Tuesday morning said the death of a man, hanging by rope from a tree off of Interstate 80 south of Roseville on Saturday, is not currently being considered as suspicious and is now being looked at as suicide.

“It’s not being considered like a homicide or anything of that nature,” Officer Eulogio Ceja said.

The California Highway Patrol’s North Sacramento office in an original news release said that after an anonymous 911 call around 9 p.m. Saturday reported a dead pedestrian, arriving officers and fire personnel discovered a man hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck about 30 feet away from eastbound I-80 near Riverside Avenue, between Citrus Heights and Roseville.

CHP spokesman Officer Greg Zumstein said Monday that no vehicles were noted to have been parked in the vicinity of the body.
