‘In Pursuit With John Walsh’ hopes to turn up leads on fugitive with Northern California ties
A national cable crime program is set to air a segment on a fugitive with ties to Sacramento and Northern California who has yet to be apprehended for the attempted murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend in 2016.
Ricardo Leo Colindres is the subject of the next episode of “In Pursuit With John Walsh” airing Wednesday on Investigation Discovery. Colindres, 29, is being sought by police in connection to the April 2016 shooting of an ex-girlfriend at the Casa Pacifica Apartments in Pacifica. Colindres attempted to kidnap the woman, who was eight months pregnant a the time, before he shot her in the head, authorities say.
Colindres was identified by the victim, who survived the attack and later gave birth to a boy, the Pacifica Police Department has said. He has not been seen since. The gun used was never recovered by law enforcement and Colindres is considered armed and dangerous.
“In Pursuit with John Walsh” – similar to the once-popular “America’s Most Wanted” show which ran nearly 1,200 episodes on Fox and Lifetime between 1988 and 2011 – solicits public tips with the hope of reinvigorating cases that have yet to be solved. Colindres will be featured in a segment called “15 Seconds of Shame” which features two fugitives each episode.
Prior to the shooting, Colindres lived in a family home in the Bay Area city of Brisbane, Capt. Christopher Clements of the Pacifica Police Department told The Sacramento Bee last year. He has family in the areas of Lodi and Burson south of Sacramento. According to Clements, he is also reported to frequent the Las Vegas area. As of April 2019, the Pacifica Police Department had been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Colindres’ arrest.
Colindres is described as 5-foot-5 and about 125 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, though “Colindres knows he is wanted and may have altered his appearance,” police said in a news release last year.
The episode is scheduled to air on Investigation Discovery at 7 p.m. Pacific. Anyone with information regarding the case or Colindres’ whereabouts can leave a tip at the “In Pursuit” call center at 833-378-7783 or online at InPursuitTips.com.
