3 arrested for deadly New Year’s Day shooting at Sacramento County hotel, sheriff says
Three men have been arrested in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting that left a 23-year-old dead and another victim injured following a party at an Arden Arcade hotel, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Deputies responded around 1 a.m. Jan. 1 to the Ramada Inn near Fulton Avenue and Auburn Boulevard to reports of a shooting. Arriving officers located a male victim, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries the same day.
A second victim transported himself to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, sheriff’s officials said.
Homicide detectives on Friday arrested Robert Massingale, 22; Alizey Whitfield, 23; and Darquan Jackson, 25, in connection with the deadly shooting, the sheriff’s news release said.
The two victims were believed to be attending a party at the hotel when they were approached in the parking lot by the suspects, “who began shooting at them,” the Sheriff’s Office said Monday in a news release.
The victim killed Jan. 1 has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Hubert Calimee of Sacramento.
All three suspects were booked into the Sacramento County jail and face charges of murder and attempted murder, jail records show, with Whitfield facing an additional charge related to possession of a firearm.
No other details were released, and the Sheriff’s Office did not specify whether any additional suspects may be outstanding.
Detectives continue to ask anyone with information relating to the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
