Man killed in hit-and-run after allegedly being asked to leave Fair Oaks bar identified

A man killed in a Friday night hit-and-run crash in Fair Oaks, reportedly after being kicked out of a nearby bar, has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Sebastian Erickson, 27, was fatally struck on Fair Oaks Boulevard near New York Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to the coroner and the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses said the man was lying down in the right lane of westbound traffic when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan going about 40 mph, which then fled the scene, according to a news release by the CHP North Sacramento office.

The victim had been asked to leave nearby Players Pub on Fair Oaks Boulevard, reportedly because he was “extremely intoxicated,” witnesses told the CHP. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel, the CHP said.

CHP officers searched the area for the suspect vehicle but were unable to locate it. The fatal collision remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has additional information regarding the incident is urged to contact the CHP North Sacramento office at 916-348-2300 or 916-798-0975.
