Man tried bringing sock full of meth into jail after weapons arrest, Placer Sheriff says
A traffic stop for expired registration tags last week ended with a Rancho Cordova man being arrested for possession of meth, a loaded firearm and brass knuckles, Placer County Sheriff’s officials said.
The deputy pulled the man over on Bowman Road in Auburn last Friday evening for the registration issued when he noticed a firearm on the driver’s floorboard, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday in a Facebook post.
Deputies then initiated a search and found methamphetamine and brass knuckles in the man’s pockets, and also discovered that the firearm in the vehicle was loaded, according to the post.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Christopher McCord, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine while armed, possession of a loaded firearm in public and possession of metal knuckles, the sheriff’s office said.
He was taken to the Placer County jail in Auburn, where officers reportedly found more meth in one of his socks, the sheriff’s office said. McCord faces an additional charge of bringing a controlled substance into a jail facility.
McCord remains held at the jail on $60,000 bail.
