Woman arrested on suspicion of murder, man faces pimping charges after Roseville shooting
A 22-year-old woman has been booked into the South Placer County jail on a charge of murder following a shooting Wednesday at a Roseville apartment complex that left one person dead and another injured.
Britney Holton was booked shortly after 9:30 p.m. on a single charge of murder after being arrested by Roseville police, according to online booking logs.
Another man, Jordan Townsend, was arrested on charges related to human trafficking in connection with Wednesday’s incident, Roseville Police Department spokesman Rob Baquera said in an emailed statement.
Baquera would not release further details on how Townsend’s charges related to the shooting. According to jail booking logs, he faces charges of pimping and false imprisonment.
“We’re not prepared at this time to confirm how the suspects or victims knew each other, investigators are working to solidify these details,” Baquera wrote.
Holton was arrested in connection with the Wednesday shooting, first reported around 2:30 p.m. by neighbors who said they heard an argument followed by gunfire at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Vineyard Road. Arriving officers located a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to Baquera.
Baquera in an update Wednesday night said there were two gunshot victims from the initial incident, and that one victim had died while the other remained at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police that several people left the scene following shots being fired. According to Baquera, the dead victim was found in a parking lot in the 5800 block of Antelope Road, in Sacramento County, and investigators believe this victim was shot at the Roseville apartment complex.
That victim will be identified by the Placer County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of family.
Baquera said detectives had identified all involved parties, but it was not clear whether this included anyone other than Holton, Townsend and the two gunshot victims.
Baquera said Thursday that the investigation remains active and that detectives are still determining what led to the shooting.
