Sacramento Sheriff’s detectives investigating homicide after woman found dead in home

Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives were investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in a Rancho Cordova home Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff’s officials were notified of the woman’s death after her body was found about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 3600 block of Manzanola Way, a few miles south of U.S. Highway 50, said Sgt. Tess Deterding, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

She said the woman’s boyfriend called authorities to report that his girlfriend had been assaulted earlier Wednesday, and she was unresponsive. Firefighters were called to the home, and they pronounced the woman dead.

Deterding said Wednesday the woman’s death was being investigated as a homicide. But there was no further information available about what might have led to her death. She also said there was nobody in custody in connection with the case.
