Boyfriend arrested in connection with woman’s death at Rancho Cordova home, police say

Detectives with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Thursday morning in connection with the homicide death of a woman a day earlier at a Rancho Cordova residence, authorities said.

Nicholas Brynelson, 26, was arrested and booked into Sacramento County jail early Thursday on a charge of voluntary manslaughter, booking records show.

The Sheriff’s Office in a news release Wednesday said dispatch received a 911 call just before 5 p.m. in which a male stated his girlfriend was unresponsive following a physical altercation earlier in the day.

Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to the 3600 block of Manzanola Way, where they located a woman in her 50s with apparent trauma. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release said.

Authorities later arrested Brynelson, a Rancho Cordova man believed by detectives to have been in a dating relationship with the victim, the Sheriff’s Office said in an updated news release Thursday.

The victim’s identity has not been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

No information was available regarding motive, the news release said, and no further details on the circumstances or cause of death were released.
