Update: Woman injured in Boulevard Park was stabbed, not shot, Sacramento police say
The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a stabbing in Boulevard Park that left one woman injured, police said.
Police spokesman Officer Karl Chan said Monday morning that after investigators originally said the victim had suffered a gunshot wound, she had in fact been treated for a stab wound.
The incident started as an altercation Sunday evening near the 600 block of 24th Street, Chan said. Police received calls of shots fired shortly after 5:30 p.m.
According to Chan, at least one gunshot was fired during the altercation, but no one was struck. A victim was then stabbed, he said.
The woman was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening stabbing injury, Chan said.
Police are continuing to investigate to determine the events that led to the woman being stabbed, Chan said. No motive has been determined.
